How to use this Islamic calendar

Choose a Hijri year between 1300 and 1600 AH, or select “Current year” to return to the year of your selected city’s local date. Each month links to a detailed calendar. Use the Hijri and Gregorian date converter for an individual date, or open the Gregorian monthly calendar.

Islamic calendar FAQ

Are the Islamic calendar and Hijri calendar the same?

Both names refer to the calendar shown here. This year overview runs from Muharram through Dhu al-Hijjah and shows a Gregorian date for each Hijri day. AH identifies the Hijri year.

Why does a Hijri year have 354 or 355 days?

This Tabular calendar has twelve months of 29 or 30 days. A common year has 354 days; a leap year adds a day to Dhu al-Hijjah for a total of 355. Its year boundaries differ from those of the Gregorian calendar.

Does this calendar use Umm al-Qura or local moon sightings?

No. It uses the same Thursday-epoch Tabular calculation as this site’s date converter. It is not an official Umm al-Qura or moon-sighting calendar. Dates, including Ramadan and Eid, are estimates; follow announcements from your local religious authority. See the calendar calculation guide and Islamic events.

Why can the date differ from another calendar or the date today?

Calendars can use different calculations, moon-sighting decisions or day adjustments. This overview maps whole dates without a time of day. The Hijri date today changes at local sunset, so it can show the next Hijri day while this date-only calendar still maps the same Gregorian day. Settings let you shift the Hijri date by one day; the Gregorian dates and printed year update together.

How do I print the year or save an A4 PDF?

Select your year and day adjustment, then choose “Print / Save PDF”. The print layout includes all twelve months, the Gregorian dates, year and calculation note. Choose A4 paper, portrait orientation and “Save as PDF” as the destination to save a copy. Turn off browser headers and footers for a clean sheet. The navigation, controls and FAQ are left off the printed calendar.
